EMBO Global Activities’ mission is to connect European and global life scientists, building lasting scientific ties that enhance excellence globally. This extends the EMBO mission of promoting excellence in the life sciences through sustained interactions between scientists worldwide. 

Life scientists in countries and regions covered by a formal agreement receive access to EMBO Programmes, connecting them with researchers in Europe and catalyzing collaborations. 

EMBO currently has agreements with India (Department of Biotechnology, DBT), Singapore (Agency for Science, Technology and Research, A*STAR), Taiwan (National Science and Technology Council, NSTC, and Academia Sinica), Chile (National Agency for Research and Development of Chile, ANID) and Japan (Japan Science and Technology Agency, JST). 

In China, EMBO is establishing a strategic partnership with Westlake University, home to the new EMBO Connect Office in Hangzhou.  

Governments and organizations interested in establishing an agreement are welcome to contact us. Some EMBO activities are also open to scientists in countries and regions not covered by an agreement. Please check the eligibility criteria in each programme page.
