EMBO is looking to fund cutting edge courses that provide high quality training to scientists. In addition, the following aspects are considered by the EMBO Course Committee:
Topic:
- The topic/techniques presented must be cutting edge and the course should cover a relatively broad range.
Instructors:
- The selected instructors should be acknowledged experts in the field and are expected to address the topic with appropriate depth and breadth to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- The ratio of instructors to students should be appropriate to ensure that all attendees receive adequate guidance and hands-on instruction in the topics and techniques presented.
- The participation of instructors should be confirmed prior to submission of the application.
Networking aspects:
- Sufficient time should be allocated for networking activities such as joint meals, coffee breaks, and group discussions, as well as for participants to present and discuss their own work.
Location:
- The equipment and materials provided should be state-of-the-art and fully appropriate for the subject matter of the course.
- Instructors and participants should be accommodated together to facilitate informal interactions and networking.
For a detailed list of selection criteria, refer to the application guidelines.
The selection process involves the following steps:
