Application

Applications to the EMBO Global Investigator Network are accepted annually via an online system. The application includes an online form and an offline form.

Application process
  • The applications portal opens in February.
  • The application deadline is 1 May, 14:00 CEST.
  • All incoming applications are screened by the EMBO Global Activities office to ensure that they are complete and the eligibility requirements are met. Applicants will receive a confirmation email within 3–5 working days of submission.
  • Eligible applications undergo a research integrity check and are sent to the selection committee for screening.
  • Pre-selected candidates are invited to an online panel interview conducted by the EMBO Global Investigator Network Committee on 24 or 25 November 2026.
  • A final decision is made at the EMBO Global Investigator Network Committee meeting, and candidates are informed of the outcome of their application by email. 
Required documentation

The application for the Global Investigator Network consists of:

  • CV
  • Research summary
  • Details of host institution and funding available to the laboratory
  • List of publications and details of applicant’s three most important papers
  • List of lab members
  • Description of the applicant’s research plan
  • Three letters of reference
