Through a partnership with the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM), EMBO recommends experts for FEAM-led initiatives, including working groups, task forces, and policy projects.

Through FEAM, EMBO also contributes to SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies), which supports the European Commission’s Scientific Advice Mechanism.

EMBO experts participating in these initiatives can:

  • Inform evidence-based policymaking at the EU level

  • Help address complex societal and scientific challenges through their research expertise
  • Establish themselves as a trusted source of advice at the European level

Through an agreement with the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO), EMBO community  members can engage in several of its policy-related working groups, such as the Agricultural Technologies Working Group, and the Plant Factories Working Group on plant R&I contributions to bioeconomy.

EMBO is a founding Member of the Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE), a platform of learned societies and research organizations representing all disciplines. It involves researchers in the design of EU science policies and advocates independent scientific advice at European level. EMBO Members and EMBO Young Investigators participate in the Working Group on Researchers’ Careers, and the Working Group on Horizon Europe and the next Framework programme.
