EMBO Member and EMBO Gold Medalist Professor Tony Hyman has been named Director General Elect for EMBO’s sister organization EMBL.
EMBO Director Prof Fiona Watt said: “On behalf of the entire EMBO community, I congratulate Tony on his appointment as the next EMBL Director General. We are really looking forward to working with him.”
Hyman was elected an EMBO Member in 2000 and won the Gold Medal in 2003. Over the years he has had significant involvement with EMBO. He has been active in Membership elections, in reviewing and interviewing for the EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship and Young Investigator programmes, and has been a keynote speaker at many EMBO conferences and workshops.
