Benefits

Successful applicants receive a daily stipend based on the cost of living in the country of their placement/s. The stipends are intended to cover living expenses and travel costs. Fellows are responsible for their own social security contributions, taxes or other costs incurred.

For journalists, the duration of the fellowship is for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months. Journalist Fellows will also be expected to attend a two-day workshop at EMBO in Heidelberg, Germany for which travel and accommodation will be provided.

For researchers wishing to become science journalists the duration of the fellowship is for a minimum of three months and a maximum of 12 months. Periods longer than three months will be subject to an ongoing assessment process.
