Application

Applicants submit:

  • A maximum two-page proposal in English in which they explain and justify how they intend to use the fellowship for their career development as a science journalist. The proposal should mention concrete content-related goals and internships or stays at research institutes where the fellows intend to work. Confirmation from editorial offices or research institutes is not required at the time of application but must be submitted subsequently by successful applicants.
  • Their curriculum vitae in English
  • Journalistic, published samples of work, which may be in any language
  • Individual applicants may be invited by EMBO for a Zoom interview.

Successful applicants will access and organize their own internships and residencies.

Applications will only be submitted via the application portal. Only fully uploaded applications will be considered. Applicants confirm that they have created their applications without the help of others and without the use of AI tools.

The selection of fellows and the awarding of fellowships takes place three times a year: all complete applications received by 1 February, 1 June or 1 October will be considered. Applications can be submitted at any time. All applicants will be notified no later than four weeks after the respective selection deadline
