YIP PhD Course 2006

17 - 24 September 2006, EMBL Heidelberg, Germany

The EMBO Young Investigator PhD course is organised by the Young Investigators for their PhD students. The objective of the course is to provide students with a broad overview in a number of different areas of the biological sciences, paired with some practical aspects that will be taught in the form of tutorials. Additionally each student will be asked to present a landmark scientific paper of their choice, a poster and short presentation on their research. A grant proposal will be prepared during the course by the students. The proposals will be presented and discussed at the end of the course in order to prepare students to write their own competitive proposal in the future.
The exposure to the first class, international scientific environment provided by the course teachers and the EMBL and the diversity of the teachers and participants, both in terms of scientific interest and nationality, are expected to be inspiring for motivation and future perspectives of the students.
