The Art of Leadership
Fewer Conflicts, More Results

I will be recommending the course. Thanks!

It was great to see how each of the aspects/problems covered can be tackled in a structural, logical way. The course really increases the awareness of ones own actions.

I gained a deeper understanding of my own role and of which areas I need to strengthen.

I wish I had attended this course earlier. Great course!

This was a great course! I enjoyed it a lot and learned many things that I will apply in my future work. I got something out of every session!  This never happens to me at a scientific meeting.

I really liked the EMBO lab management course. It is a very intense 4 day course covering general management principles but applied to a scientific background. Topics that are covered include: Time-management, conflict-management, principles of management and delegation, negotiations, team building etc. (My complaint here is that it is almost too much, and for some topics there's not enough time). There's only a limited number of participants (usually 15-16 per group) so you can't really "hide" and have to actively participate in the group activities.
Rather than a lecture style, the course mostly consists of small group exercises, role plays, etc, so it was very interactive. The two trainers who ran the course were really excellent. It was also nice to meet other scientist at the same career stage and exchange experiences.
I found it was very helpful to get some basic concepts of how to run and manage a group of people. I was also made aware of certain personality tendencies that I have and that my group members have, which may help to deal with conflicts more effectively in the future. So, I am highly recommending the course.
