Membership Benefits

Membership of the three-year programme entitles young investigators to a range of academic and practical benefits. In addition to a financial award made available by the individual EMBC member states, EMBO also offers the possibility of topping-up funds for scientists from regions where funding is more limited.

Programme Activities

The EMBO Young Investigator Programme offers its members valuable support on a number of levels. A growing number of activities are offered, many of which have been developed in line with the specific needs of the young investigator membership. These activities are designed to put a spotlight on the young scientists and enhance their prominence in the scientific community by:

Networking via an annual meeting and contact with the EMBO membership through a mentorship programme and the annual EMBO Members Workshop. Joint publications in major scientific journals often result from these collaborative actions.

Creating awareness of the status of individual scientists through sponsorship of special young investigator lectures at scientific events, publication of a brochure highlighting the scientists’ research and an invitation to write reviews for EMBO reports.

Organising an annual EMBO Young Investigator Symposium for the scientific community to facilitate interactive discussion of techniques or methods identified by EMBO young investigators.
