New biology for new curricula
6th international workshop on secondary school biology education

17-19 May 2007, EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany
Download workshop report

Organised by the European Molecular Biology Organization, with practical experiments organised by the European Learning Lab for the Life Sciences (EMBL), and Explo-Heidelberg.

This year’s workshop included scientific presentations and multidisciplinary discussions on the thematic content of secondary school biology curricula across Europe, with the aim of identifying subject and skill gaps in curricula and setting standards whilst respecting the European diversity. On the last day of the workshop the participants engaged in practical experiments at the labs of the EMBL and ExploHeidelberg.

80 participants were accepted from the following professional groups:

curriculum designers/examiners/advisors
school teachers
scientists/scientist educators
