Organized by EMBO Young Investigators, this PhD course provides students working in the Young Investigators’ labs with a broad overview of the biological sciences. They are also trained in skills required for a scientific career.
Now in its tenth year, this year’s event is organized by Rob Arkowitz, Monica Bettencourt-Dias, Tibor Harkany, Philippe Pasero, Bruno Silva-Santos, Petr Svoboda, Gerlind Wallon and Rachel Coulthard.
The international scientific experience of the course teachers and the diversity of both teachers and participants – in terms of scientific interest and nationality – help shape the students’ future perspectives.
Students should apply via the online form. Course overview
The course includes lectures on cytoskeleton, cell division, immune surveillance and evasion, genome integrity, neurobiology, pluripotency, cell migration and parasitology. Keynote lecture will be given by Nobel Laureate, Sir Tim Hunt.
The session Frontiers of….. delivered by the heads of three EMBL core facilities gives an insight into cutting edge scientific techniques. A tour of the core facilities complements these sessions.
