Conferences & Conference Series

EMBO Conferences and EMBO Conference Series aim to support European scientific communities, by enabling groups of scientists to regularly meet and discuss topics with leaders in the field. These conferences cover different and evolving aspects of important and relatively broad subject areas. A limited number of travel grants are available for scientists from countries in need of scientific strengthening. Please refer to the individual conference website for further information.

Workshops

EMBO Workshops are original meetings providing scientists from different fields with an opportunity to discuss common themes and exchange cross-disciplinary results. A limited number of travel grants are available for scientists from countries in need of scientific strengthening. Please refer to the individual workshop website for further information.

Practical Courses

EMBO Practical Courses promote the transfer of new methods and emerging techniques to a broad number of laboratories. Participating students are introduced to the theory of and receive hands-on training in the technique. Facilitators are often those scientists who pioneered the technique. Participants are enabled to implement newly learned techniques in their home laboratories.

A limited number of travel grants are available for scientists from countries in need of scientific strengthening. Please refer to the individual practical course website for further information.

Laboratory Management Courses

Management training for postdocs and group leaders addressing key skills including: staff selection, leadership and delegation, effective problem solving and communication. Further details regarding pricing and course structure are available in the course websites.

The courses for postdocs and group leaders are popular. Sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Once courses are full, there will be waiting lists available but there is no guarantee a place will become free. At this stage, we unfortunately cannot confirm that additional dates will be added for 2014. There will naturally be courses available in 2015. To be kept informed of future courses, please sign up to our Events e-news.

The EMBO Meeting

The EMBO Meeting offers a European forum for scientific exchange. Topics cover the entire range of life sciences, encouraging participants to look beyond the boundaries of their own fields. The scientific programme is supplemented by networking and career development opportunities.

EMBO | EMBL Symposia

EMBO|EMBL Symposia focus on interdisciplinary topics in the life sciences, with a particular emphasis on areas that are just starting to gather momentum. The excitement surrounding the topic and the stimulating atmosphere are expected to attract hundreds of scientists and significantly move the research field forward.

A limited number of travel grants are available for scientists from countries in need of scientific strengthening. Please refer to the symposia websites for further information.

ESF | EMBO Symposia

EMBO and the European Science Foundation (ESF) jointly fund multidisciplinary symposia to promote links between molecular biologists and other scientists in Europe, giving them an opportunity to discuss common themes and exchange cross-disciplinary results.

A limited number of travel grants are available for scientists from countries in need of scientific strengthening. Please refer to the symposia websites for further information.

EMBO | EMBL Science & Society conference

Promotes mutual interest, understanding, and dialogue between biologists, specialists from related disciplines, policy makers and members of the public interested in how modern biology affects society.

Keynote Lectures

EMBO Members give keynote lectures at major international scientific meetings. This provides the wider scientific community with an opportunity to find out about the recent research findings from EMBO Members’ laboratories.

EMBO | FEBS Lecture Courses

EMBO and the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) support joint lecture courses on relevant, timely scientific topics in biochemistry, molecular biology and related areas.

A limited number of travel grants are available for scientists from countries in need of scientific strengthening.  Please refer to the individual lecture course website for further information.

Global Exchange Lecture Courses

EMBO Global Activities intends to expand the EMBO philosophy of catalyzing scientific exchange and fostering talented researchers beyond European borders. EMBO Global Exchange Lecture Courses offer local scientists an opportunity to learn from experts about the background theory and latest developments in diverse fields.

Global Exchange Lecture Series

EMBO Global Activities intends to expand the EMBO philosophy of catalyzing scientific exchange and fostering talented researchers beyond European borders. EMBO Members and EMBO Young Investigators give lectures at international scientific institutes outside of Europe and prominent researchers from non-European institutes give lectures at European institutes.
