Announcing the first ASCB | EMBO Meeting

Heidelberg 19 October - As part of its ongoing work to stimulate scientific exchange across the borders of Europe and beyond, EMBO has signed a two-year agreement for joint annual meetings with the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB). The first ASCB | EMBO Meeting will take place between 2 and 6 December 2017 in Philadelphia. This will be followed by a second joint meeting in San Diego in December 2018.

“EMBO is continuously looking for the best ways to bring top science to the widest possible audiences – alone or in partnership with other organisations,” says Maria Leptin, EMBO Director. “While the focus for our activities will remain in Europe and our partner countries, joining forces with the ASCB will allow us to reach even more researchers from all across the world.”

The scientific programme will focus on all aspects of cellular and molecular biology and will be developed jointly. In a first step, each organisation has appointed a Co-Program Chair: EMBO Member Laura Machesky of the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in Glasgow will represent EMBO, and Tobias Walther of Harvard Medical School in Boston will represent the ASCB.
