Women in Science
Working together to achieve equal opportunities
for men and women in science
Gerlind Wallon, Programme Manager
The low representation of women in the higher ranks of academia is of concern to EMBO. Although men and women are equally represented at the graduate level, women leave science in disproportionately higher numbers during the later stages of an academic career. EMBO makes efforts to assess and act on these imbalances in the scientific career path.
The organisation:
Monitors the selection process in EMBO programmes
Alerts EMBO committees towards gender imbalance
Devises actions to counteract gender imbalance
Creates awareness in the scientific community
