Young Investigator lectures
Applications are welcome from meeting organizers who want to invite EMBO Young Investigators to give a lecture. Programme members are eligible for sponsorship until one year after the expiration of their formal membership. Our online database contains an option for searching for scientists eligible for Young Investigator lectures by keyword or subject area.
Decisions on the proposals for lectures are made in consultation with the chair of the EMBO Young Investigator Committee.
A maximum of 800 euro (Europe) and 1,200 euro (international) to cover travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed to the speaker. The EMBO Young Investigator giving the lecture is requested to submit the Young Investigator lecture grants claim form together with related receipts to the Young Investigator office. No advance payments will be made.
Conditions of the grant:
The lecture must be advertised as EMBO Young Investigator Lecture in the conference programme.
The speaker should be introduced at the meeting with a slide stating that it is an EMBO Young Investigator Lecture (this is provided if the applications is successful) with some general comments on EMBO and its activities.
A maximum of two lecture grants will be awarded for meetings with 300 participants or fewer.
EMBO will not cover a stipend for the speaker or costs towards the general organization of the meeting.
Travel costs should keep within the guidelines in the EMBO Young Investigator Travel Guidelines.
It is expected that registration fees be waived for EMBO Young Investigator Lectures. If a registration fee is payable by all speakers and this includes accommodation, reimbursement of travel costs is prioritized, but any remaining funds can be used towards the residential registration fee to cover accommodation costs of the speaker.
