1. The prize comprises a gold medal and a bursary of 10.000 euro.
2. The medal is awarded annually.

Eligible Candidates

European molecular biologists working in Europe who are under the age of 40 years and whose work has been carried out in the Member States of the EMBC. Although the upper age limit of eligible candidates has been set at 40 years, this does not imply that significantly younger scientists should not be nominated. The aim of the Medal is to recognise outstanding work done by young European molecular biologists in laboratories of the Member States of the EMBC.

Nominations

The EMBO membership shall be invited each year to nominate candidates for the medal. To be considered, a nomination must be supported by three EMBO members and must include:

a) C.V. of the nominee.
b) The nominee's 5 most important publications.
c) Statements from each of the three proposers indicating why she or he believes the candidate should be considered for the medal.

The next deadline for receipt of nominations is 1 February 2009.
